Counselling with me is not about being analysed or given quick solutions. It’s a space where we slow things down and pay attention to what your experience is really like — emotionally, mentally, physically, and relationally.
I work in a warm, thoughtful, and down-to-earth way. Our relationship is an important part of the therapy. Feeling safe enough to be honest, uncertain, or vulnerable — at your own pace — is where meaningful change often begins.
There is no pressure to talk about anything before you’re ready. Some people arrive knowing exactly what they want to explore. Others simply know that something doesn’t feel right but can’t yet put it into words. Both are completely welcome.
We move at a pace that feels manageable for you. If something feels overwhelming, we slow down. If something feels important, we stay with it. Therapy isn’t about pushing — it’s about creating the conditions where understanding can grow naturally.
I’m an integrative counsellor, which means I draw from different therapeutic perspectives depending on what feels most helpful for you.
Our work might include:
Gently exploring how past experiences still shape your present life
Noticing emotional patterns and relationship dynamics
Understanding anxiety, low mood, or emotional overwhelm
Paying attention to how feelings are held in the body
Reflecting on questions of identity, direction, or meaning when these feel important
There’s no single method imposed on you. Instead, we stay curious together about what supports you best.
I see counselling as a collaborative process rather than something done to you. I’ll listen carefully, reflect back what I notice, and sometimes offer thoughts or observations that might help you see things in a new way. You’re always free to agree, disagree, or explore further.
Over time, this kind of careful attention can help you:
Understand yourself with more clarity and compassion
Feel less driven by old patterns
Develop new ways of responding rather than reacting
Feel more grounded in who you are
Sessions are 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, especially at the beginning. They are available online or in person in Essex.
If you’re unsure whether this way of working feels right for you, a short introductory call can help you get a sense of whether we’d be a good fit.
