I’m Garry, an integrative counsellor offering therapy in Essex and online. I work with adults who are struggling with anxiety, low mood, difficult past experiences, relationship challenges, or a general sense of feeling stuck or overwhelmed.
People often come to me when they are tired of holding everything together on their own. My aim is to offer a space that feels steady, respectful, and emotionally safe — somewhere you can speak freely without fear of judgement or pressure to be a certain way.
My path into counselling has been shaped by both professional training and life experience. I’ve long been interested in how early experiences shape us, how emotional pain can linger beneath the surface, and how healing often begins through being deeply heard and understood.
This work matters to me. I don’t see therapy as a set of techniques, but as a human relationship where real attention, care, and honesty can make a meaningful difference.
I work in a relational and integrative way. That means I pay attention not just to what you say, but how your experiences feel, how emotions show up in your body, and how past and present relationships connect.
I’m not here to diagnose or label you. Instead, I’m interested in understanding your world from the inside. Together, we explore what feels painful, confusing, or stuck, and gently build a clearer and more compassionate understanding of yourself.
Clients often tell me they feel relieved to have a space where they don’t need to perform, impress, or explain themselves perfectly.
I am a qualified integrative counsellor with training that draws on person-centred, psychodynamic, and other depth-oriented approaches. This allows me to work flexibly and respond to each person as an individual rather than following a fixed formula.
I am committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice to ensure I work safely, ethically, and with care.
Finding the right therapist can take time, and it’s important that you feel comfortable. A short introductory call can help you get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit.
Outside of counselling, I value reflection, learning, and time spent in nature. These help me stay grounded and present in my work. I believe personal growth is an ongoing process, and I bring that same openness and curiosity into my work with clients.
Alongside my counselling work, I have a long-standing personal interest in spiritual and reflective traditions that explore inner experience and meaning. This is a separate aspect of my work and is not part of counselling sessions unless a client specifically wishes to explore their own spiritual framework.
